The WordCamp Kampala 2018 conference will take place from Fri 23rd – Sun 25th November 2018 at Hivecolab, Kanjokya House, Kamwokya, Kampala. This conference will focus on website design and publishing in general with special attention to the popular WordPress Content Management Software (CMS) which now powers 1/3 (a third) of the world wide web.
WordCamps are casual conferences covering everything related to WordPress, organised in several cities world over. WordCamps are attended by people ranging from blogging newbies to professional web developers and consultants, and usually combine scheduled programming with unconference sessions and other activities.
The first WordCamp was organized in San Francisco by Matt Mullenweg in 2006, and since then local communities around the world have organized hundreds of others. In Uganda, the first Wordcamp Kampala was held last year 2017. Read about how it went down and more details about the wordpress kampala community. This year, Wordrcamp Nairobi Kenya will also kickoff on 23rd Nov.
ICT and Computer Studies Teachers were extended a special invitation, read here.
Below is the official invitation from ITAU:

Web design is one of the topics on the O level Computer Studies Curriculum, but many of the teachers teach it theoretically, while others only end at creating basic static webpages, and cannot even support their schools in creating dynamic school websites or keeping them updated, which is why many of the schools just hire external companies to create websites for them, yet such a task would conveniently and cost effectively be handled by the school’s ICT staff internally.
The teachers who will attend this 3-day conference will be empowered through:
The workshop fee has been specially discounted for ICT Teachers to pay only UGX 20,000 once, which will cater for meals (breakfast and lunch for the 3 days), a T-shirt, Wi-Fi Access and other logistics, but excludes night accommodation (participants will have to commute from their homes or from their privately arranged residences). Mr. Mukalele Rogers is coordinating the ICT Teachers and collecting the payments in advance on behalf of the organising team, through Mobile Money (MTN: 0776-960740, Airtel: 0706060740).
We are making conference t-shirts and tags for all participants.
Upon payment, members are requested to sms/whatsapp thier names and prefered tshirt size to 0776960740 / 0706060740 for advance arrangements. If you dont send payments in time, you may miss out!
A tentative schedule is available on the official wordcamp Kampala website at https://2018.kampala.wordcamp.org/schedule/, but the final schedule will be published soon. Everyone is encouraged to carry a laptop as some of the sessions will be highly practical.
