What is a Font?
According to Computer Hope, a font is a graphical representation of text that may include a different typeface, point size, weight, color, or design.
Microsoft office gives users the ability to change the font face, size, colour and other properties in any part of the document to add the much desired flavor. But in many cases, users are fond of using the default font in many of the Ms. Office programmes. In Office, 2016, the default font is Calibri in size 11 and in my experience not many find it necessary to alter this in their documents.
On many occasions, I am requested to be on a panel to interview job applicants in the use of computers and more specifically Ms. Office. I have always altered the default font to a very weird option(E.g. Wingdings) and eventually everyone fails the practical interview. Only students of E-zone School of Computing have beaten me in this.
In the steps below, I will show you how to alter the default font in Ms. Office 2016.
1. Open Word and click on the Home tab in the top left corner.
2. Under the Fonts block, click the expand button. It’s a small arrow icon in the bottom right corner. This will open the Font settings window.
3. Select your desired Font from the dialogue box that appears. (You can even choose the size.)
4. Click Set as Default in the bottom left corner and check All documents based on the normal template. Click OK to confirm the changes.
All new Word documents will now use your font of choice by default.
