Practical and Practical Theory ICT books by Kakuru Benard

Many teachers are utilizing the COVID-19 School break to create educational content thorugh doing research, updating their notes, creating video lessons (check out several tutorials ITAU members are uploading on our joint YouTube channel), etc.

One of the teachers who has utilized this break productively is Mr. Kakuru Benard, an ICT Teacher at equatorial College School – Ibanda. Recently, he took to Facebook to announce two of his latest creations, “A Comprehensive Approach to Practical SUBSIDIARY ICT First Edition, 2020” and “A Comprehensive Approach to Practical COMPUTER STUDIES First Edition, 2020”.

Practical and ‘Practical Theory’

A unique feature in Mr. Kakuru’s books is the special coverage on Practical Topics examined in Paper Two plus Practical Theory Questions examined in Paper one in line with the syllabud and the UNEB guidelines.

In June 2016, Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) sent a circular to all UCE Schools Offering Computer Studies (840) in which UNEB stated that Section C of Computer Studies Paper 840/1 would consist of 3 theoretical practical questions.

Practical Theory questions are application questions in which candidates are required to explain aspects of the practical topics on syllabus during when writting thier theory paper (paper one).

In his books, Mr. Kakuru has identified and compiled notes and lots of activities to guide learners to attempt theoretical practical questions as mentioned in the syllabus.

This is a new explosion of knowledge. The book is based on the 2008 Computer Studies O level syllabus is specifically based on UNEB examination requirements. The language used therein is technical for what Computer Studies examiners need. Nevertheless, it is simple, clear and straight to enable easy comprehension of the subject matter of Computer Studies.

The book content has all practical and practical theory topics to enable students grasp the Computer Studies concepts for both theory (840/1) and application/practical (840/2). The content is systematically arranged to enable coherent flow of knowledge to ensure proper understanding of Computer Studies.

This new and value added academic output will indeed be very helpful and useful to both students and teachers of Computer Studies at ordinary Level to enhance and improve performance in Computer Studies. Mr. Kakuru in Class teaching computer studies

Kakuru Benard is a distinguished Scholar, Academician, researcher and teacher. He has taught Computer Studies & ICT at Equatorial College School – Ibanda and St. Joseph’s of Nazareth, Mpigi. He is very hardworking and many teachers have benefited from the work and resources he creates for his classes.
