Kyembambe Girls Secondary School in Fort Portal is to host the regional ICT Teachers Capacity Development (rCDW) Workshop scheduled for Saturday 6th July, 2019.
This has been confirmed after the headteacher of the school, accepted our proposal and welcomed the ICT Teachers to the School, and signed off the workshop invitation letter (Download PDF Here).
About the School
Kyebambe Girls Secondary School is a residential girls-only secondary school located in Fort Portal, Kabarole District in western Uganda. It was founded in 1910 under the Church of Uganda and named after the Omukama of Toro, Daudi Kasagama Kyebambe IV. The school is situated a distance of approximately 2 Kilometres from the heart of Fort Portal town which is approximately 290 kilometres from Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.
The bus fare from the capital Kampala to Fort Portal is currently about UGX 20,000 shillings only. Mbarara to Fort Portal costs almost equally.
As The New Vision reports, The school has had its share of history in Uganda’s education system. There has been a recent wave of developments, sweeping through the school. The Government, with the support of the African Development Bank has set up massive constructions, which have greatly helped change the physical infrastructure at Kyebambe Girls School.
In February last year, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Visited the School to commission the magnificent St. Elizabeth Chapel at Kyebambe Girls Secondary School.
The school’s mission is to provide competitive formal and informal education through imparting contemporary skills, instilling christian values for a girl child to meet global challenge.
The school actively participates in many co-curricular activities in which they usually emerge stars, as stated on the school gate, “the Star Empire”

Kyebambe Girls School has over the years demonstrated commitment to promoting ICTs and innovation through various initiatives, such as the Annual Communication and Innovation Awards, by supporting and facilitating the girls to come up with ICT solutions.

Kyembambe Girls school is one of the schools which received computer labs from Uganda Communication Commission under the Rural Communications Development Fund (RCDF). Ugandan Government also chose Kyebambe to be one of the pilot schools for digital teaching and learning in Science and Maths program.
Rationale and Program for the regional ICT Teachers Capacity Development workshop at Kyebambe Girls on 6th July
This year ICT Teachers recently concluded their national capacity development workshop which was held on 6th and 7th May 2019 at Kololo Senior Secondary School, Kampala, with a focus on skilling and tooling the ICT teachers to effectively manage and maintain the school computer laboratories and hands-on in new approaches for curriculum delivery of commonly challenging topics like programming and website design. The workshop was a success due to the great turn up and some support from several sponsors and partners.
The ICT Teachers Association is now organizing several regional workshops as an outreach and follow up on what was shared in Kampala. This is going to make it easier for ICT Teachers within the region to attend since the workshop will be nearer to them. This workshop is going to involve practical sessions in the computer lab as indicated on the tentative program below.

The workshop fee is UGX 25,000 to cater for meals, facilities, facilitation, workshop materials and resources. All teachers in the country are welcome but are required to confirm their participation by registering online at cdw.ictteachersug.net.
